Verhoef Training's BEE Strategy for 2010
Verhoef Training continually seek to ensure that our BEE Strategy and implementation thereof is a genuine commitment and value adding process for all parties concerned. In accordance with the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act, No 53 of 2003 as well as the Codes of Good Practice as released by the Department of Trade and Industry, Verhoef Training is certified as a Value Adding Supplier. We are pro-actively translating the scorecard initiatives into goals and targets for Black Economic Empowerment and will continue to enhance our contribution to Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment through these initiatives. The following is Verhoef Training's Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Strategy: EMPLOYMENT EQUITYVerhoef Training is continually aiming to improve it's Employment Equity and achievements in accordance with new targets as set out in our Management Development Programme.
MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMETo enable Verhoef Training to gradually become more reflective of the RSA composition, we will be setting staff composition targets linked to business expansion and will continue to identify, train and develop employees who have management/entrepreneurial potential as part of a succession-planning program for BEE.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENTA 2nd Internship has already successfully been completed in 2008 and subsequently has successfully been permanently employed as an integral staff member of the Company. New internship applicants are currently in the identification process and to be implemented at Verhoef Training once again in 2010.We are committed to continually identify, train and develop individuals who have potential to be part of this programme and upon successful completion, to be employed by either Verhoef Training or elsewhere. We focus on development and support to ensure barriers to growth of Employee Equity candidates are minimised and personal growth plans are implemented for staff.
PREFERENTIAL PROCUREMENT OF SUPPLIERSVerhoef Training encourages transformation throughout the entire economy and as such promotes BEE compliance by all entities. We continuously strive to actively source vendors that will qualify as Black Economic Empowerment companies and/or individual service providers. We encourage our suppliers to participate and support these BEE initiatives.
ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENTVerhoef actively builds relationships with black owned/empowered QSE's and EME's, and support their business initiatives. We identified a local Training Centre which runs training courses aimed at unemployed persons in and around the Cape region whereby 2x students were sponsored and successfully graduated on their 1st phase foundation course. They will move onto the 2nd phase of their course in 2009. Verhoef Training is further identifying other avenues for implementation of enterprise development.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY/LOCAL UPLIFTMENTVerhoef Training has once again supported the Somerset Hospital for the acquirement of equipment vital to support their HIV/AIDS initiative. They have been declared an ARV Site and as such will be host to HIV/AIDS patients from all the surrounding clinics. 90% of Somerset Hospital's patients are underprivileged. This is a long-term commitment and we are continually looking to identify and build relationships with local social institutions involved in the upliftment of previously disadvantaged black people.
CUSTOMER INVOLVEMENTEncourage our customers to participate and support our BEE and Social Responsibility initiatives.
